Our advisory panel members are not remunerated by Lost and have no statutory obligations or formal input into Lost Group operations. Their involvement is provided on an ad-hoc, informal basis to act as an objective sounding board.
The involvement of advisory panel members is done so on the express understanding that there is no conflict of interest (perceived or actual) with other business interests and roles they may hold. The need for these advisors to remain independent is paramount given their status and role as industry leaders.
We consider these individuals respected colleagues that are known for their expertise and contribution to the UK transport industry.
Advisory Panel Members
There are few more experienced and well-respected bus industry professionals than Giles who has enjoyed over 45 years senior experience in the transport sector, spending the last 10 years as Managing Director of First Group’s UK and Ireland Bus Division, leading a root and branch review of the business, transforming the customer experience and the relationships with Local Authorities.
He was previously founder and Chair of leading bus company Blazefield and also co-founder and then Chief Executive of Prism Rail plc which operated 4 UK train franchises.
Giles held the post of Chair of the Association of Train Operating Companies, President and then Chair of CPT and was co-founder and Chairman of Open Access rail company, Grand Central.
Giles is currently non-executive Chairman of Dillistone plc and also AJW Experience Group, which provides a range of services for the transport sector, including its Great Scenic Journeys marketing and customer service proposition.
Sir Michael Holden, bt, has enjoyed a stellar career in the railway industry since joining British Rail as a Traffic Student in 1974. He rose up the ranks, undertaking operational and customer service management roles, before becoming Zone Director for Anglia and Southern at Railtrack in the decade preceding him joining Southeastern as its Managing Director in 2003.
After a successful period in transforming Southeastern, he moved into consultancy in 2006, providing support on a UK and international basis for many transport organisations, then was appointed as Chief Executive of Directly Operated Railways in 2012, becoming its Chair from 2015 to 2017.
Sir Michael continues to provide strategic advice and support to rail sector organisations and has also been a high-profile columnist for magazines.
